Wrapping Up Summer…..
Well, it has happened. The end of summer is finally here, or at least the end of summer break for the kids. I apologize for my lack of recipes over the last couple of weeks, our “little” guy is starting kindergarten next Wednesday and we have been trying to pack as much into these last few weeks as we can. 🙂 While I haven’t been able to write very many blog posts lately I have been keeping up on my Facebook page, and Instagram (@Indulgeyourinnerfoodie), so if you want to keep up with all of my posts stop in for a visit and just click follow. 😉
Last Saturday the kids and I went to the Creation Museum petting zoo with some friends. They had so much fun! It was a little bit toasty out, but when the sun would go behind the clouds it was just about right. With Kindergarten fast approaching you would think that our son was going off to college the way his little sister is acting. She has been trying to stick as close to him as possible lately which he has been kind enough to indulge her even though such a big kid doesn’t always have time for their little sister. 😉 Last night was the school’s open house which allowed us to go meet his teacher, let him visit his classroom, and get to know the school, and their staff, a little bit. All in all he had a very exciting night and can’t wait for his first day next Wednesday
With all of this running around, and still keeping up with the normal routine around the house, some extra play dates, and my fitness goals, I have been finding myself a little bit tired. The people at Total Tea were kind enough to send a box of 24 tea bags for me to try. I didn’t really have any high hopes because I’ve never found a tea that holds up to their claims. I had laid the kids down for their nap, I sat down on the couch just exhausted thinking about finishing painting the house and decided that was as good a time as any to give this tea a try, and see what it is made of.
The ingredient description (Amazon)
GUAYUSA – contains L-theanine, a glutamic acid analog found in green tea that has been shown to reduce physical and mental stress. Contains all of the essential amino acids for humans. Has a High Antioxidant Activity with ORAC antioxidant values of 58uM per gram, compared to 28-29uM per gram for commercial green teas.
GREEN TEA – increases metabolism. Polyphenol found in green tea works to intensify levels of fat oxidation. Perfect for that skinny tea effect.
CINNAMON BARK – contains antibacterial, antiseptic, antiviral, antispasmodic, and anti-fungal properties.
ELEUTHERO ROOT – a strong antioxidant. Referred to as Adaptogen – an immune system, memory and energy stimulant.
GINSENG ROOT – soothes the nervous system. Decreases blood sugar. Stimulates the endocrine system. Common in Ginseng Tea.
I drank a cup and sat on the couch for about 30 minutes waiting to see if I was going to wake up, or fall asleep sitting up. Around the 30 minute mark I got up to rinse my cup, which turned into washing the dishes, then evolved into painting the rest of the house, rolling into sweeping, then pulling out the stove to clean, which compelled me to clean behind the fridge, and by that time it was time to feed the kids some dinner. As you can tell, it worked. The energy I had was a calm energy, I wasn’t jittery, or spinning, just awake, and ready to do what needed to be done. All the ingredients are natural with amazing health benefits. (Now mind you, just because something says ALL NATURAL that doesn’t mean it is always healthy ,or safe, but this tea actually is!) You can drink several cups if needed. (I suppose it depends on how tired you are to how well it will work.) Over all I would give this product 5 stars because the flavor is great, I have drank it both hot, and cold, the packaging keeps it fresh individual foil wrappers, the tea does what it claims, and the customer service is superior. If you would like to give total tea a try you can find them on Amazon. There are several different types, so if you are looking for energy make sure that you buy the red box.
What do you have planned to finish up your summer?
How do you get extra energy?
While I was given this sample for free I have not been paid for my opinion. All of the thoughts I have expressed are original, and my own.
